3t appoints new centre manager for Teesside

3t’s Newcastle Operations Manager, Paul Johnson, has been appointed Centre Manger of our recently opened Teesside site, near Cannon Park, Middlesbrough.

A man with a beard is standing outdoors, leaning against a glass wall with his arms crossed. He is wearing a gray zip-up jacket with 3t on the left side. As the new centre manager in Teesside, he gazes at the buildings and blue sky with clouds in the background.

Paul takes up the reins from August and will be developing 3t’s offer across the Tees Valley region, as well as supporting key clients in the area.

With a career background in both engineering and education, Paul is ideally suited to the role.

After starting his career in multi-disciplinary engineering, focussed on mechanical and process engineering, Paul moved into the education and training sector 15 years ago.

Prior to joining 3t Training Services in 2021, he was head of engineering at Newcastle College.

In Paul’s current role, he is responsible for managing Newcastle’s training operation, including the planning and delivery of more than 650 courses.

As Teesside Centre Manager, Paul will be further developing 3t’s extensive portfolio of wind, oil and gas, construction, processing, and industrial courses. He will work with Tees Valley businesses, and those further afield, to address skills shortages and develop a highly skilled, safe, and competent workforce for now and into the future.

Since it opened last autumn, 3t’s Teesside site has trained more than two thousand people and recently added a raft of new courses to its portfolio including the Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) for the oil and gas sector, H2S Training, OPITO Rigger Competence, OPITO Banksman Competence, IPAF Training for those using powered access equipment, Forklift Truck Training, Medical Services and Face Fit Testing amongst others.

Paul said: “My first priority will be to broaden 3t’s training portfolio in Teesside to ensure we meet the needs of the businesses and people in the area as it grows.

“The Tees Valley is buzzing with new investment, new projects, and new industries such as wind and carbon capture and we are here to provide tailored, cost-effective, and high-quality training solutions to develop the skills needed to support these industries across this region.

“As well as traditional training, 3t can provide world-leading technology-led engaging solutions such as cloud-based training management software, simulators, digital learning including virtual reality and eLearning so we offer everything local industry needs to flourish.

“I would welcome any local businesses to come and visit the centre and see what we can do to support any technical and safety training they may need across their workforce.”

3t Training Services is the UK’s largest energy sector training provider and counts some of the industry’s most prestigious names amongst its clients including bp, Wood, Siemens and Bilfinger. The Teesside centre is the seventh UK location for the company, which also boasts flagship training centres in Aberdeen, Newcastle, Glasgow, London and Manchester.
