Course Overview
This course allows free fall coxswains the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and actions they are required to take that cannot reasonably be practised offshore.

In order to complete OPITO Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain Further Training (Free Fall) Simulator, delegates must hold:

In order to complete an OPITO approved Lifeboat Coxswain Initial Training (Free Fall) course, delegates must hold a valid and in-date offshore survival certificate (BOSIET or FOET).
Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement
Course Content
Delegates completing an OPITO-approved Lifeboat Coxswain Initial Training (Free Fall) course will be able to;- Understand the coxswain's role and responsibilities (free fall)
- Handle a craft
- Recover persons from water
- Understand use of controls, steering craft, launch, and recovery
- Move a totally enclosed motor-propelled survival craft (TEMPSC) to a safe area
- Prepare a craft for evacuation
- Tow and pace
- Use a compass
- Use radio, pyrotechnics and emergency equipment

- Certification: An OPITO certificate will be issued upon successful course completion.
- Certificate validity (months): 24
- Revalidation: The course must be revalidated every 2 years.
- Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport
