Course Overview

This course refreshes the skills and knowledge acquired in the initial STCW Fast Rescue Boats training course. Route 2 is for seafarers who have previously been assessed as competent to take charge of a ship-borne fast rescue boat, and are required to demonstrate they have retained the knowledge and skills of a fast rescue boat coxswain that cannot reasonably be practiced on board a ship as per STCW 78 as amended (STCW Section A-VI/2-2).

Prerequisites

Prerequisites Required!
In order to complete STCW Update in Fast Rescue Boats (FRB) (Route 2), delegates must hold:
    Delegates must be at least 16 years of age. Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement

Course Content

Delegates completing an STCW Updated Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats (Route 2) training course will be able to take charge of launching and recovery of a fast rescue boat Prevent and manage capsize situations

  • Certification: A Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) certificate will be provided upon successful completion of this course.
  • Certificate validity (months): 60
  • Revalidation: The course must be revalidated every 5 years.
  • Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport
  • Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement
