Course Overview

Rigging Loft Management and Equipment Inspection is designed to train delegates in the correct methods of managing and controlling lifting equipment which is used to conduct a variety of operations. Delegates will be trained in the correct inspection of equipment in accordance with legislative, manufacturers and company requirements.
The course also discusses management procedures in maintaining sufficient and valid records, the correct procedure to follow in the event of equipment being deemed unsafe for use and the correct reporting procedures.
The course is a mix of theoretical and practical session, during which delegates will be required to demonstrate their level of knowledge and understanding of the training programme content.

Course Content

Rigging Loft Management and Equipment Inspection training includes;

MODULE 1: Rigging Loft Management

- Basic functions of the rigging loft
- Correct storage of the rigging equipment
- The rigging loft controller
- Rigging loft equipment registers
- Regulations applying to rigging loft management (LOLER and PUWER)
- Lifting gear examination and inspection
- Quarantine systems and recording defects

MODULE 2: Lifting Equipment Inspection
- Construction of equipment
- Safe working loads of equipment
- Examination of wire ropes
- Examination of various types of lifting gear
- Lifting gear rejection criteria
- Cumulative discard factors of wire ropes
- Normal wear and discard criteria
- Lubrication and maintenance of equipment

More information

  • Certification: A 3t Training Services certificate will be issued upon successful completion.
  • Certificate validity (months): 24
  • Target audience: Personnel with little or no knowledge of rigging loft management or those wishing to update their certification.
  • Revalidation: The course must be revalidated every 2 years.
  • Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport.
  • Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement.
