An OEUK medical consists of the following;- Completion of a patient questionnaire
- Urinalysis
- Calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Near distance and colour vision
- Pulse and blood pressure measurement
- Lung function test (peak flow)
- Audiogram (hearing test)
- Consultation with a doctor

- Certification: An OEUK Medical Certificate will be issued on successful completion of the examination
- Certificate validity (months): 24
- Target audience: All personnel wishing to work offshore
- Revalidation: This medical is required to be refreshed every 2 years (unless otherwise detailed)
- Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport Please attend your appointment at least 15 minutes in advance of your scheduled appointment time
- Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement

What should I expect during the examination?
The test is broken down into two core parts:
Health Questionnaire: This covers your medical history and any current medication
Physical examination: This is done by the doctor who will do the following:

Height, Weight, and BMI tests

Vision Tests including for both near and long vision as well as colour vision checks

Blood Pressure Measurement

Chester Step Test: A fitness assessment
How long will the test take?
The entire examination typically takes about 1 to 1.5 hour
What if I fail the medical examination?
If you fail the OGUK offshore medical examination, there are several steps you can take:
Address the reasons for failure: Common reasons for failing include high blood pressure, diabetes, and issues related to body mass index (BMI) or weight.
Reapply for the medical examination: Once you feel that your health has improved and meets the required standards, you can schedule another medical examination.
Appeal if necessary: If you believe the decision was incorrect, you can appeal to OGUK within 28 days (about 4 weeks) of receiving your results.
How often do I need to take a OGUK medical test
The test will need to be redone when it reaches its two-year limit
