Course Overview

Every offshore worker must undergo and pass an Oil & Gas UK (OEUK) offshore medical examination. Fit To Train relates to the risk of using Compressed Air Emergency Breathing Systems (CA-EBS) and is designed to ensure you are physically fit to use these systems. An OEUK Offshore Medical including Fit To Train will take place between 2pm and 6pm. Once you have booked your medical, our bookings team will contact you to arrange a convenient time between 2pm and 6pm for your appointment. NOTE: If booking for Newcastle, please contact us to book this medical.

Course Content

An OEUK offshore medical covers a range of topics essential under OGUK requirements including;
1. Completion of a patient questionnaire
2. Urinalysis
3. Calculation of Body Mass Index (BMI)
4. Near distance and colour vision
5. Pulse and blood pressure measurement
6. Lung function test (peak flow)
7. Audiogram (hearing test)
8. Consultation with a doctor

A Fit To Train medical examination includes;
1. Questionnaire about respiratory, ear, nose and throat health
2. Lung health assessment
3. Face-to-face medical assessment

  • Certification: An OEUK Certificate will be issued upon successful completion.
  • Certificate validity (months): 24
  • Revalidation: The revalidation period for this medical is every 2 years (unless otherwise stated)
  • Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport
  • Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement
