Course Overview
OPITO HUET training prepares offshore personnel to travel to and from offshore oil and gas installations and vessels by helicopter. The course includes specific training in pre-flight and in-flight requirements. Delegates will gain the basic emergency response knowledge and skills required in the event of a helicopter emergency, with specific focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.

In order to complete OPITO Combined HUET, delegates must hold:

- A valid and in-date OGUK Medical (or equivalent)
- A valid and in-date Fit to Train Assessment (declaring the participant fit or unfit).
Course Content
By the end of this training programme, delegates will;- Understand pre-flight and in-flight requirements
- Understand the key principles behind the use of Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) and be able to deploy the system in simulated dry exercises
- Understand the key principles behind the use of the emergency breathing system (EBS) and be able to use one with confidence in a water environment
- Understand the actions to take during a surface evacuation into an aviation raft
- Be competent in their ability to escape from a ditched helicopter in a submerged and capsized emergency situations using breath holds and EBS
- Be able to board an aviation raft successfully from an in water situation
More information
- Certification: An OPITO certificate will be issued upon successful course completion.
- Certificate validity (months): 48
- Target audience: Personnel travelling to offshore oil and gas installations/facilities via helicopter.
- Revalidation: The course must be revalidated every 4 years.
- Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport, swimwear and a towel.
- Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement.
