Course Overview
This course is designed for personnel travelling to or from offshore installations/vessels via helicopter, where a Compressed Air Breathing System will be provided for use in the case of an emergency ditching.
The CA-EBS Initial Deployment training programme provides the delegate with the knowledge and understanding of the particular hazards and properties of a CA-EBS and appropriate emergency response actions to take should the requirement for emergency use arise. All practical training will be completed in a dry environment.

Prerequisites
Prerequisites Required!
In order to complete OPITO Compressed Air - CA-EBS, delegates must hold:

- A valid and in-date BOSIET / FOET certificate or a valid HUET certificate
OR
- A valid and in-date HUET certificate
Course Content
By the completion of this training delegates will be able to explain;- The fundamental differences between re-breather and compressed air systems (technology and use)
- The rationale and use of compressed air emergency breathing systems in helicopter emergency situations
- The hazards associated with compressed air emergency breathing systems
- By the completion of this training delegates will be able to demonstrate
- A pre-flight inspection of the life jacket and CA-EBS
- Correctly don the life jacket with CA-EBS correctly, including buddy checks
- The correct emergency deployment of the CA-EBS in a dry environment
More information
- Certification: An OPITO certificate will be issued upon successful course completion.
- Target audience: Personnel that may be required to use a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) whilst travelling offshore by helicopter.
- Revalidation: There is no revalidation requirement for this training programme.
- Items to bring: Government Issued Photographic ID eg Driver Licence or Passport.
- Health prerequisites: Due to certain aspects of the course being potentially physically demanding and/or stressful, delegates will be required to confirm their medical fitness & physical ability to participate on this course by completing our centre medical self-screening form prior to course commencement.
